Mineral Oil is used as a common laxative for many animals as a physical lubrication to allow food to pass and relief of constipation. However mineral oil has many other usages.
Additional Uses and Mineral OIl Facts
- Natural solution to control mites and powdery mildew on grapes and vineyards
- Use as a mildecide in orchards and vineyards

- Preserves wooden cutting boards, salad bowls and utensils
- Coolant in RF dummy lads by amateur radio operators

According to Cornell University mineral oil is "..the only widely used class of pesticides to which insect or mites have not developed resistance."
General usage for apple orchards:
• Use oil in a dilute application (with a minimum of 200 gallons/acre on apples)
• Do not exceed an oil concentration of 1% (volume to volume)
• Do not apply when temperatures exceed 80 degrees F
• Avoid large droplets
• Ensure good tank agitation
• Make sure oil is completely emulsified
